This app is disappointing from start to finish. Cumbersome check in process. You have to enter your *G card so many times, it never remembers you. You’re like a stranger to Swiss every time you fly. Whoever thought it was a good idea on your “my bookings” page just to list a bunch of destinations (at least half of them are ZRH or GVA)? Completely unhelpful. You have to go through the check in process twice every time, to get your choice of seat, because the first time your *G status isn’t considered. Your boarding pass then doesn’t come into the app. There’s no true live departure or arrival information. Booking a flight is just a reduced functionality version of the website. Swiss needs to get some designers to do some proper design thinking on the user journey - and look at apps from airlines like Delta, easyJet, BA, etc. that are so far ahead of the Swiss app it’s a joke. Update for 2025 The Swiss app got slightly less bad, but it’s still terrible compared to most other non-LH group apps. To be honest, the app and the website and, unfortunately Swiss itself, are becoming the shame of Switzerland. I would not be surprised if Swiss is out of business within three years. This would be a sad day, but it’s the deserved outcome based on the customer experience in 2025.
I love this app because it show me the information I need, like transfer gates, status of my luggage, flight information etc
Flying Swiss it’s as smooth at it can be. The App is so user friendly that makes your travel hassle free and enjoyable. Tge check in and follow through process is valuable and puts you at ease. Thank you!
Very amateurish. Definitely the worse airline app of the 10 or so I use. Some functionality/compatibility issues, and counterintuitive user interface (graphics that look like buttons but are not buttons, etc).
It is going to take 7 hours to download the Swiss Air App? What century are we in? The app was only developed 4 years ago… I can’t believe this
1st issue: The 2nd flight of our in-Europe 1-way flight disappeared. The online messaging agent tells us that “all is good, but we can’t get your seats for the 2nd flight”. The airport staff was good and realized the 2nd flight was somehow blocked in the system, and fixed that. So a. this shouldn’t have happened in the 1st place, and 2nd the on-line staff should have fixed it. 2nd issue: nobody in Swiss can tell you what is Star Alliance Gold good for with any certainty. In the past I got several times a “only lounge. You owe us $600 for your luggage being too much and too heavy” and the agent would not budge… I had to rebook onto an available set with another airline ! Finally on the last flight only at the airport it was FINALLY something positive “yes, Gold gives you better seat and more luggage (plus the lounge”. Finally.
I'm a professional musician and have been traveling with my instrument for over 20 years. The TSA made a law to accommodate musicians so they can bring thier instruments as carry on. Sometimes you get someone who does not take this in to consideration and tries to prevent you from bringing it onboard. I had the unfortunate experience dealing with someone like this today and needless to say it causes me undue stress as I've had instruments damaged by the airlines before. I researched musical instruments on their website and the have strict guidelines as to the size of your carry on. For anything the length of a guitar, they suggest you purchase a seat as it will not fit within their 54 centimeter limit. Clearly they are trying to force you to buy an additional ticket. I can understand that with say a cello, but with a guitar? My fellow musician the next window over had no problems whatsoever. This made my first experience with Swiss Airlines very unpleasant and will likely choose another airline that is more accommodating to musicians in the future.
Frequently unable to check in, not able to find me, not able to log in, once logged in does not recognize my profile or flight confirmation numbers. Am better off using the mobile website. Unfortunately this is not one of good airline apps.
The app itself is overall well done. Some of the options/instructions for the additional travel partners is vague. Seems to only spotlight the main traveler’s info. I like the step by step notifications/updates and simplicity for the user.
The times were incorrect on my Lock Screen (also in the app it didn’t specify which TIME ZONES). It wouldn’t let me check in to my flight from Zurich to Newark and kept saying “use the app to check in” even though I was. It didn’t even give an option for “step 2 out 3” of check in (just cancel flight or exit). Swiss airport employees told us not to use the app because so many people have problems and we had to wait a long time for them to print our tickets. Saw at least 30 people in line at the Swiss airport with the same exact problem (plus not enough employees to help, if they even could help). Not to mention the oxygen masks came down over France and we had to turn around and wait 15 hours to get a new flight.
At the gate in Zurich my seat changed but did not update on the boarding pass.
Tons of issues with check ins and documents adds. In short it’s pretty much having a smooth experience unless you’re using a desktop browser - I’m forced to use this app caused by UA co-chair but Swiss has become too much of a bargain airline for my taste. The app and its issues pretty much represent the ‘we don’t care’ attitude of this airline and everything that goes with it. I’ve got an idea: outsource the app to people who know what they’re doing. I’m done with Swiss. Guten tag!
I tried checking in my friend and I a whole day before our flight under my account and the Swiss app for some reason only registered my friends information and completely removed mine from the app. I know can only check in for him and not myself in my OWN Account !! They also made me plug my information in multiple times without it every registering once!!! In addition to this mess, the waiting screen/loading screen is unbelievably slow for Travel App. Compared to airline apps such as United, JetBlue, Delta, & Southwest…Air Swiss is below average. It shouldn’t be this complicated to do a simple check in and adding it to my Apple wallet.

Very convenient way to travail
Traveling with our son and the app shows wide-open seats on the plane for one passenger, but not myself, which is prohibiting me from booking tickets to sit next to him at the time of check in. This is causing extreme anxiety and stress on me and now I have to hope that the airlines staff will sit us next to each other. Not the ideal scenario to end a vacation. Get it together with you app. it should not show open seats for one person and the other person has no available open seats. That makes no sense!!
Impossible to check in a family of 4. No reason or explanation for why my 5 year old can’t get an online boarding pass but the rest of us could. Purchased better seats a month ago only to find out 1 day before that our seats have been ‘disassociated’. Fancy word for we payed extra for better seats only for the airline to give them away and shove us in the back? And we now have to submit paperwork to get a refund? Endless hours troubleshooting with no customer care just people who answer phones and pass you around. What a nightmare. What happened to Swiss efficiency?
After inputting all of the information and steps requested, I get a “there is a problem “ when I confirm everything. Each time. Frustrating.
First time traveling Swiss Internstionak
Not a great app. Buggy login, constantly giving a technical error. And there’s no working mechanism for reporting issues. The link here just takes you to a 404 page. Use the desktop and save your emails
I successfully checked into the flight the day before departure using the app, but the app experienced “technical difficulties” trying to provide digital boarding passes, despite numerous attempts, so we ended up standing in line at the departure desk for more than 1.5 hours to get paper boarding passes … there was this huge line because nobody was able to get digital boarding passes from the app.
Delayed flight!
No matter how many times the app is updated it is frustrating. It is so buggy and useless. A person cannot successfully register or book. The website is no better. What happened to the company's reputation? Does no one extensively test? How much business is lost over all of this? The app and site deserve a rating of -5.
Cannot register an account same problem as last version. The app is totally useless.
Won’t issue boarding passes sometimes or gets errors, fails to load seat map so you can’t change seats. Also had it automatically apply a Miles and More reward without telling me which was extremely disappointing. App has really gotten worse over the past 6 months for some reason.
This app is useless, logging in or creating an account is the first hurdle, then after you’re done the check in process takes ages and so many unnecessary steps. Once you’re done welcome to failure to load your boarding pass - what is this app for?
We needed special assistance with a wheel chair. At the airport and on the plane were extremely friendly and helpful. The Swiss air app kept us up to date all the time. Super service. Thank you.
First time traveling in Business on Lufthansa. Older plane and there is a strong smell of urine around my seat. Not sure if a dog or person but I’m not loving my experience right now.
I’m rating on my latest flight at the beginning of this month which I’ve reached out to their customer service and guess what? NO RESPONSE. I’ve reached out previously regarding another matter and that was taken care of in a prompt manner but this time around? NOTHING. NADA. ZILCH. Really, are you kidding me? Three attempts with NO response. This is actually embarrassing for an airline. You can’t simply tell me you are so short on staff that it’s been over three weeks and still no response?
One of the least helpful airline apps I’ve used. Most functions you select say the app can’t handle it and suggests going on their website instead. What’s the point?
Unexpectedly poor quality for the airline app. Web experience and app experience are dramatically different and lacking uniformity. App does not have an option to select resident of the destination country (USA). Web was useless completely for the international travel experience.
Clean, timely, modern, amazing food offers on all classes. Love its destinations as a connecting in Zurich One request is to consider changing seats within the same class, or offering upgrades after a reservations is made and confirmed. It seems impossible to check other seats if like prices once one is chosen. Also the passport reverification seems to be superfluous and oftentimes frequent travelers are not used to that kind of double check. Why not at the gate itself and have the gate agents remind passengers of it, or even have it available at the business and senator lounges?
Terrible UI and customer experience. Tried to change my seat and lost the original seat despite a technical error. Apparently Swiss hands control of seats over to airport 52 hours before flight but leaves option to select seats online, the result: if you try to change your seat you can’t and will lose your original seat.
5 stars for everything except adding identification
We ended up flying through United Air, but by booking through Swiss Air, we avoided the layovers the other flights included. The Swiss app doesn’t have the detailed options like the United app
This app should be redesigned from the ground up by an experienced UX team who has the user in mind, not the airline. Please look at some of the other airline apps, all of which are far better than this Swiss app. Your app does not give any real time relevant details such as gate, boarding, flight time, airplane type, seating chart, possibility to change seats or add baggage. The app is sadly useless: it only alerted me that my departure gate had changed after we had taken off, and told me that an online boarding pass was available after we had landed (I had to ask for a paper boarding pass at check in). On another flight I did manage to get an online boarding pass, which was sent via email! Why bother with an app if it has to go via email or text message? It is very disappointing that an airline, who hopes to be considered as a “premier” carrier, delivers such a poor user experience. And this after users have complained about the same issues 5 years ago already! The first step to a better airline rating would be to hurry and make the app useful.
I received an email to enter “Additional passenger information required”, and I tried to use this app. It was a complete disaster! Not only I couldn’t update the flight information, the app managed to lose the contact information that I already had entered, such as an email and phone number. On top of that, the app (and the Swiss website) do not provide an option to enter again the contact information?! I am a software developer myself and I have never seen so poorly designed and obviously not tested app. It is so bad that it should be removed from the App Store to save people’s time and frustration.
I think everything works well, the people are nice but for the price I am paying I wish we had some food, and I wish the planes would arrive a little bit earlier.
Considering the origin of this app, Switzerland, the functionality of the program is surprisingly cumbersome. I had to type manually most of the information that I had already provided when I booked the ticket. I was not able to simple information like WIFI availability. I am disappointed.
I'm absolutely furious with the SWISS Air App! My recent experience with them was a total nightmare. First, my flight was delayed, causing major stress. Then, when they rescheduled my connecting flight, they gave me a mere 40 minutes to make it, knowing I had check-in bags – that's absurd! I ended up having to book a motel for the night, and I had to pay for multiple Ubers. But the infuriating part? SWISS Air claimed they weren't responsible for compensation because the delayed flight was operated by Edelweiss, which is THEIR partner! It's a ridiculous blame game. And don't even get me started on trying to reach their customer service number – it's practically impossible! SWISS Air, you need to step up your game and take responsibility for your passengers' experiences.

App will only let you register if you use a phone number for two-step authentication. Does not accept U.S. phone numbers and also is this the best idea when a lot of people’s phones don’t work when they travel internationally? Couldn’t turn off two-step auth. and couldn’t get registered. Waste of time.
The app is very easy to use and convenient. This app is a more sustainable option for the environment.

Full of bugs, completely unreliable app, frequent crashes
I have been having issues with the account both on the app and the website. I keep on getting error messages since last year. Cannot log into my account in any capacity. App doesn’t show my past or future flights.
After selecting flights and entering traveler data and then going payment, it hangs forever. Never loaded after 40 min. I did the search again and the price went up. Waste of time. I would not use the app to book a flight.
Cannot book multi-city bookings. Says flights don’t exist for those times/days etc. If I try to book them separately, they are definitely there. It must be a gimmick to get you to pay more. Junk app; junk website; junk airlines.
